Assistant Dean, Diversity and Inclusion/ Basic Biomedical Sciences Faculty, Diversity and Inclusion
The USD Sanford School of Medicine (SSOM) seeks candidates to serve as Assistant Dean of Diversity and Inclusion and faculty within Basic Biomedical Sciences (www.usd.edu/med). SSOM is a community-based medical school with a tradition of excellence, and is highly ranked in family medicine and in rural medicine.
As Assistant Dean the successful candidate will work in the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and focus on development of educational opportunities for medical students and SSOM faculty regarding American Indian health and assisting with efforts and responsibilities of the SSOM Office of Diversity and Inclusion. Specific responsibilities may include: providing medical students are cultural experiences related to the care of American Indian patients and underserved populations; developing medical student educational opportunities on American Indian reservations; assisting in coordinating the Cultural Awareness Colloquium for Pillar 2 medical students; proposing and developing curriculum that enhances cultural competence and diversity across all medical education Pillars and promoting interprofessional education; faculty development; and assisting with pipeline activities; and serving on key medical school committees.
As a faculty member within the Basic Biomedical Sciences, the successful candidate will advance public health in the curriculum by teaching concepts in public health, social determinations of health in underserved populations, and/or women's health. Preferably teaching will include epidemiology. In addition, the successful candidate will facilitate outcomes based research programming for medical and public health students.

The successful candidate will have a doctorate in public health, education, or other related field; experience working in women's health and/or with American Indian people and culture or other with underserved population; the ability to travel to and build relationships with underserved populations across the State of South Dakota.
The Assistant Dean reports to the Associate Dean of Diversity and Inclusion and is expected to work effectively with colleagues throughout the medical school and with our clinical affiliates.
